Media Platform – International Seminar on Media Literacy

27 youth workers met in Debrecen, Hungary between 22nd and 28th September 2018 in the framework of the Media Platform project in order to tackle the topics of media-literacy, intercultural tolerance, creativity and cooperation. The participating youth workers around all around the world, countries included Armenia, Ukraine, Estonia, Finland, Macedonia, Germany, Tunisia, Egypt, Romania, Poland and Hungary. The aims of the international seminar were:

  • to exchange experience with media education through non-formal education
  • to exchange and collect creative tools, activities and methods on media literacy, promotion of intercultural tolerance and understanding
  • to develop new tools which will help to tackle the growing intolerance and xenophobia among young people and the challenges of the influence of new media
  • to strengthen partnership among organisations that are working with the topic of media literacy
  • to talk about possible future plans and projects of the Youth for Media network and partners

Each participant prepared a small workshop about its media literacy education practice. Some of the participants arrived from experience in teaching in formal education and some had more experience with non-formal education methods. The joy of sharing and contributing were present the whole time and the tool kits of the youth workers and their sending organisations was refreshed with updated and new methods.

The project was co-financed by European Union in the framework of the Erasmus Plus Programme.
